Cocotier du Rocher is a small set of self-catering bungalows in La Passe, the main village of La Digue, set in a lush tropical garden a short way from the harbour. It is an intimate place of around eight bungalows, and it holds an excellent 4.8 stars from more than one hundred and twenty reviews. Beautiful, spotless bungalows, a garden that feels like a private paradise and outstanding, attentive service are what fill the reviews.

The bungalows are spacious, private and tastefully furnished, each with everything you need for an independent stay, and they are nestled in a garden full of flowers, geckos and friendly resident cats that guests come to love. Everything is described as immaculate, the bathrooms especially, and the setting is peaceful and secluded while still only minutes from the village and some of the best beaches in the world.

The service is what guests single out most. The host, named as Stephan, and his team are described as top notch, the kind who make things happen quickly and anticipate what you need, and others name Kawar and the wider team for the same warm, ready help. It is that combination of a beautiful garden setting and genuinely excellent hosting that has guests calling it a place you would be foolish to overlook on La Digue.

La Passe is the main village of La Digue, the small granite island just east of Praslin, where the ferries come in and island life gathers, with its shops, cafes, bike-hire, a few restaurants and takeaways and the harbour all close together. La Digue is a slow, largely car-free island where the bicycle is king, and from La Passe it is a short, flat ride to L'Union Estate and the famous Anse Source d'Argent, or north to the quieter coves of Anse Patate and Anse Sévère. The ferry links La Digue to Praslin in minutes and on to Mahé. For a beautiful garden self-catering stay with standout service on La Digue, Cocotier du Rocher is one we are glad to recommend.
