✓ Verified listing · Official Seychelles Tourism registerCalou Guesthouse is a small, family-run guesthouse on a quiet side street of La Passe, the main village of La Digue, surrounded by greenery. It is an intimate place of around five rooms, and it holds an excellent 4.7 stars from more than one hundred and ten reviews. Spacious, spotless rooms, a peaceful setting among nature and a genuinely warm family welcome are what fill the reviews, several calling it a little paradise.
The rooms are large, clean and well organised, with a tasteful decor guests notice, set on a peaceful side street where the quiet is the whole point, about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the port and the centre of the village. Breakfast is described again and again as very good, and bikes are easy to hire for getting around the island. It is close enough to the centre to be convenient yet far enough to be calm, which is a hard balance to strike.
The hosting is the heart of it. The family and team, warmly named as Nadine, Trinisha and Jarel among them, are described as wonderful, going out of their way to welcome guests, sometimes with a fresh fruit mocktail on arrival, to explain the island and its best spots and to arrange guided tours. Guests even write of being met at the boat and helped with luggage. If we are nitpicking on their behalf, a room or two has small details that could be improved, but the welcome and the setting more than carry it.
La Passe is the main village of La Digue, the small granite island just east of Praslin, where the ferries come in and island life gathers, with its shops, cafes, bike-hire, a few restaurants and the harbour all close together. La Digue is a slow, largely car-free island where the bicycle is king, and from La Passe it is a short, flat ride to L'Union Estate and the famous Anse Source d'Argent, or north to the quieter coves of Anse Patate and Anse Sévère. The ferry links La Digue to Praslin in minutes and on to Mahé. For a peaceful, family-run guesthouse among nature near the village on La Digue, Calou is one we are glad to recommend.

We initially booked Chalets de Palma, but once we arrived, we got upgraded rooms at the Calou Guest House that belongs to the same owner. The driver was waiting for us on arrival and helped transfer us with our luggage from the boat to our rooms. The service is outstanding; Nadine went above and beyond to make our stay
