The boat leaves Praslin in the morning and the first stop is St Pierre, a fist of granite sticking out of the sea with no beach, just rock. The snorkel here is the best snorkel on the inner islands. The water is deep close to the rock, the visibility is often twenty metres, and the fish swarm in numbers you do not see on the reefs.
Then on to Curieuse, the island where the giant Aldabra tortoises live. You walk across the island from one bay to the other, an easy walk through the mangroves, and the tortoises are on the path, beside the path, sometimes on the path. They are not in a sanctuary. They are the residents. The walk ends at a beach where a creole BBQ is set up. Fish, rice, salad, fresh fruit, all cooked on the fire while you swim.
After lunch, the boat moves to Anse Lafarine for a final swim or a final snorkel, then back to Praslin in the late afternoon.
St Pierre snorkel alone is worth the price. The Curieuse tortoise walk is the kind of experience children and adults remember equally. The BBQ is honest food, not buffet food, and you eat it on a beach most visitors to Seychelles never see. This is one of the best value full days on Praslin.
