The morning is the Vallée de Mai. The boardwalk, the Coco de Mer, the black parrot, the prehistoric feel of the forest. The guide explains the plants, the history, the way the forest was protected from logging because a governor in the colonial era refused to cut it down. You come out of the forest and drive ten minutes down the road to Anse Lazio, often described as one of the best beaches in the world. The beach is a curve of white sand, fringed by takamaka trees, with a gentle swim and a small restaurant at either end.
The afternoon is the beach. Lunch at the restaurant, swim in the bay, walk along the sand. The tour returns you to your hotel in the late afternoon.
