Villa Bananier is a family-run bed and breakfast at Côte d'Or on Praslin, a stone's throw from the beach and an easy walk from the restaurants, shops, ATMs and money exchange that make this stretch of coast so convenient. The guesthouse is a little older, guests are honest about that, but it reads as cosy and clean rather than tired, with spacious rooms, air conditioning and the beach barely a hundred metres from the door.

What guests return to again and again is the family behind it. Villa Bananier is run by a mother and daughter, with Anne named warmly and often, and the team is described as attentive, polite and genuinely willing to help. They reconfirm your taxi, arrange island trips and car rental, and generally make sure guests feel looked after from arrival onward.

One review stands out and tells you a lot about the place. A guest who was injured during their stay describes the owner personally driving them to hospital, helping them communicate with the doctor, and sorting out the medication and everything else that was needed. That kind of care, well beyond what a booking asks for, is why the warmth in these reviews feels earned rather than routine.

Add a location that puts the beach, the dining and the daily essentials all within a short walk, and Villa Bananier is exactly what its 4.5 rating suggests, an honest, friendly, well-placed family guesthouse on Praslin's best-loved beach. Come for the hosting and the position rather than a brand-new fit-out, and it delivers comfortably.

Getting there and the area

Côte d'Or, on the bay also known as Anse Volbert, is the liveliest and most convenient beach on Praslin's north coast, a long crescent of pale sand with calm, shallow water that is good for swimming and easy for children. Behind it runs the island's best concentration of restaurants, shops, dive centres and boat operators, with trips out to Curieuse and the bird sanctuary of Cousin leaving from here. The Vallée de Mai palm forest is a short drive inland, and the famous Anse Lazio is over the headland to the west. Buses and taxis make getting around simple, and much of what you need is walkable.
