About Bliss Hotel
- The hotel at Glacis was first built in 1968 and soon became the most popular spot on the island. It stood abandoned for ten years in the 1990s until the Bliss owners found its ruins in 2003 and rebuilt it.

The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the hotel is built into the rocks with a big, deep swimming pool and a jumping rock, its own beach and a couple of restaurants attached. Guests describe the setting as beautiful and the private beach as romantic and uncrowded, with the ocean breeze right there. Being on this stretch of coast, there is little within walking distance, so a hire car is worth having.
The service and the food are the strongest themes in the reviews. Guests describe friendly, helpful staff and outstanding dinners, with breakfast and afternoon tea included, and a general sense of being well looked after. It is a small, personal hotel that people warm to.
Glacis is on the rocky north coast of Mahé, a green, residential stretch just beyond Beau Vallon and about twenty-five minutes from Victoria and the airport. The long beach, dive centres and restaurants of Beau Vallon are a short drive away, while this corner stays quiet, with clear water and good snorkelling off the rocks. For a small boutique hotel with a private beach and a natural rock pool on the north coast, Bliss has a character all its own.

I loved my stay at Bliss! Everything was beautiful and clean. Air con was great. The breakfast and teatime included was outstanding !!!! Only thing is the wifi didn’t work great in the bedroom but that wasn’t a problem.

Glacis is a green, rocky stretch of the north coast of Mahé, just beyond the busy beach at Beau Vallon, about twenty-five minutes by car from Victoria and the airport. It is a quiet, residential area of hillside homes and small coves, with clear water and good snorkelling straight off the rocks and an away-from-it-all feel. Beau Vallon, with its long beach, dive centres, casual restaurants and Wednesday food market, is a few minutes away, and boat trips to the Sainte Anne marine park leave from there. There is little within walking distance along this coast, so a hire car is the easy way to reach the beaches, the capital and the rest of Mahé.
