Praslin earns its nights for two reasons, the Vallée de Mai palm forest and its position as the springboard to Curieuse, St Pierre and La Digue. Base here for the best island-hopping in the country.
No big roads, bicycles and ox carts, and Anse Source d’Argent. La Digue is best as a guided day from Praslin or Mahé, or a quiet night or two if you want the island to yourself after the day-trippers leave.
A common rhythm is a few nights on Mahé for the water and the interior, then a few on Praslin with La Digue as a day trip. A rental car on Mahé and the ferry between islands is all the logistics most trips need.
