Self-catering · Baie Ste Anne, Praslin
★★★★★ 4.8 (94 Google reviews)
✓ Verified listing · Official Seychelles Tourism registerThe Old School sits right by the ferry port at Baie Sainte Anne on the east side of Praslin, and the name fits, this is a converted schoolhouse turned into large self-catering apartments. Guests are struck by how spacious and how new everything feels, apartments described as huge, brand new, spotless and fully equipped, with a washing machine and everything you need for a self-catering stay. Several mention a stunning view over the port and the boats coming and going.
The hosting earns a lot of the praise. The landlady is called kind and attentive, staff give a warm welcome, and there are stories of the team going well beyond the basics, arranging car hire and a Curieuse Island boat trip, even quietly doing guests' dishes, and in one case helping a guest recover a lost phone. It is a well-run, genuinely helpful operation, and the 4.8 rating reflects it.
The location is practical for arrivals and island trips. It is about a ten minute walk from the main ferry terminal, roughly three kilometres from the palm forest of the Vallée de Mai, with a grocery just around the corner and the Côte d'Or beaches and restaurants a short drive north. For anyone island-hopping or planning day trips to Curieuse and La Digue, being this close to the jetty is a real convenience.
The honest note, made plainly by a few guests, is that this is not a beach location. The nearest good beaches need a drive or a bus, the immediate area is quiet and can be dark at night, and shops and restaurants are a little way off. Come for a spacious, spotless, well-hosted and well-connected base rather than a toes-in-the-sand stay, and The Old School more than earns its very high rating.

Such a great little place! The apartment was huge, brand new, spotless and had absolutely everything you need. The surroundings were quiet during the night and the landlady was kind enough to help with whatever inquiry we had for them. They even did our dishes which we didn't expect them to do. Downstairs there was thi

Baie Sainte Anne is Praslin's main ferry gateway, on the island's east coast, where the boats from Mahé and La Digue dock. It is a working village and transport hub rather than a beach resort, which makes it a handy base for island-hopping and day trips to Curieuse and Cousin. The palm forest of the Vallée de Mai is a short drive inland, and the beaches and restaurants of the Côte d'Or line the north coast a little further on. A hire car or the island bus makes reaching Praslin's famous beaches straightforward from here.
