The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable, offered in budget and deluxe options, with the deluxe rooms adding a balcony and a beautiful sea view that guests say is well worth the upgrade. It is honest about what it is, not the newest or fanciest place, but spotless, welcoming and barely twenty metres from a quiet stretch of soft sand and calm, shallow water. A good breakfast sets you up for the day and the island is easy to explore from here.
The hosting is the heart of it. Herbert, the host, is named again and again for a warm welcome, a hand with luggage and steady, genuine help throughout the stay, from tips to arranging excursions. It is that personal care, matched to a beachfront spot on one of Praslin's best bays, that has guests calling it the best place they stayed and planning to come back.
Côte d'Or, also called Anse Volbert, is the long, curving bay on the north-east coast of Praslin, one of the island's best-loved beaches, a wide arc of soft sand with calm, shallow, turquoise water that is safe for swimming and gentle for children. Along the bay are shops, dive centres, car rental and a good choice of restaurants, and from the beach you can take a boat to the tiny islet of St Pierre or on to Curieuse and La Digue. The Vallée de Mai palm forest is a short drive inland. For a friendly, beach-close guesthouse with great value on Praslin's best bay, Rose Mary's is one we are glad to recommend.

We have had an absolutle wonderful time at Rosemary. We have tried the budget room and the deluxe room. Both rooms were excellent. Also the budget room was spciacious. Côte d'Or, also called Anse Volbert, is the long, curving bay on the north-east coast of Praslin, one of the island's most popular and best-loved beaches. It is a wide arc of soft sand backed by takamaka trees, with calm, shallow, turquoise water that is safe for swimming and snorkelling and gentle for children. Along the bay are shops, dive centres, car rental and a good spread of restaurants within an easy walk, plus the local bus along the main road. From the beach, boats run to the tiny islet of St Pierre and on to Curieuse and La Digue. Inland lies the Vallée de Mai, the UNESCO palm forest of the coco de mer. Praslin is the second-largest island, reached from Mahé by a short flight or the fast ferry.
