Pirogue Lodge is a small, traditional hotel right across the road from Côte d'Or beach, on the north coast of Praslin, an intimate place of just six rooms with its own little pool. It holds 4.6 stars from more than one hundred and seventy reviews. A superb beachfront location, spacious spotless rooms and warm, helpful staff are what guests come back to.

The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, and the hotel has a traditional island charm, its decor unhurried and unpretentious in a way guests find refreshing. There is a small pool, a good breakfast and beach beds carried across for you, and the beach itself is right over the road, on a calm, long and clean stretch that is perfect for swimming. The lane is quiet, with no buses or main road, yet a bus stop is three minutes away in either direction and a supermarket and restaurants are within a hundred metres.

The service is the heart of the reviews. The staff are described as exceptionally friendly and helpful, quick to have a room ready and to lay out sunbeds while you wait, and guests who came for a honeymoon write of a stay that exceeded their expectations. It is that personal warmth, on one of Praslin's best beaches, that guests remember.

Côte d'Or, or Anse Volbert, is the liveliest beach on Praslin, a long, sheltered bay of pale sand with calm, clear water that is safe for swimming, and the launch point for many of the island's boat trips. Shops, dive centres and restaurants line the bay, and Anse Lazio and the Vallée de Mai are both a short drive away. Praslin is reached by a quick flight or the fast ferry from Mahé. For a charming, welcoming small hotel steps from one of Praslin's best beaches, Pirogue Lodge is one we are glad to recommend.

The beach was right across from the hotel in a very calm part of the island which was perfect for relaxing time and swimming. They also bring beach beds for you. I wish I could remember the lady at the front desk name but she w

Pirogue Lodge is a special place that is hard to find nowadays. It’s decor may be a bit old fashioned by urban hipster standards - lucky us as it exudes all the charm of a traditional small hotel on a tropical island. It is very comfortable with spotlessly clean and spacious rooms. The location is perfect, just opposit

We chose Seychelles for our honeymoon, starting with a five-night stay at Pirogue Lodge on Praslin, and it exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Although we arrived early, our room was ready in no time, and while we waited, they provided sunbeds f

Getting there and the area

Côte d'Or, or Anse Volbert, is the main beach on the north coast of Praslin and the island's most sociable stretch, a long, gently curving bay of pale sand with calm, clear water that is safe and easy for swimming. Behind the sand runs a friendly little strip of shops, supermarkets, dive centres, cafés and restaurants, and the island bus stops along the bay. This is the hub for Praslin's boat trips, out to Curieuse, Saint Pierre and La Digue, and a small island sits just offshore for an easy snorkel. Anse Lazio, one of the most admired beaches in the world, is a short drive north, and the Vallée de Mai palm forest is inland. Praslin is reached by a quick flight or the fast ferry from Mahé, and a hire car or the bus makes getting around easy.
