North East Point sits at the northern tip of Mahé, a quiet, green and rocky corner of the island a short drive beyond the busy beach at Beau Vallon, about twenty-five minutes from Victoria and the airport. It is a residential stretch of hillside homes and small coves, with clear water and good snorkelling off the rocks, and a calm, out-of-the-way feel. Beau Vallon, with its long beach, dive centres, restaurants and Wednesday food market, is close at hand, and boat trips to the Sainte Anne marine park leave from there. Mahé is the main island, with the widest choice of beaches and restaurants, and a hire car is the easy way to reach them along the north-coast road.
