Should you rent a car in Seychelles in 2026?
On Mahé, almost certainly yes. The island is bigger than most visitors expect, the best beaches are spread along every coast, and the buses, while charmingly cheap, run on island time and stop early in the evening. A rental car turns Mahé from a resort stay into an adventure: sunrise at one beach, lunch in Victoria, sunset on the opposite coast, all on your own schedule.
The honest exceptions: if you are staying at one resort for a short honeymoon and barely leaving it, airport transfers may be enough, and on La Digue you will not need a car at all since the island runs on bicycles. For Mahé and Praslin stays of three days or more, a car pays for itself in freedom alone.
