How difficult is it to get married in Seychelles as foreigners?

You are in luck because the short answer is: It’s as easy as saying “I do”

The Seychelles has been described as the Las Vegas of the Indian Ocean, in terms of how easy it is to get married. Because it is one of the few countries that has NO VISA REQUIREMENTS.

It does not matter where you and your future spouse are from, you’ll be able to legally and officially be married in the Seychelles, and the marriage is valid everywhere!

What documents do I need to get married in Seychelles?

Couples who wish to get married in Seychelles simply have to get directly in contact with the Seychelles Civil Status Office at Independence House in Victoria or get in touch with an experienced and well-established Seychelles wedding organizer such as SeyBooking.com,

Both will request that you provide the following documents that are required for an official civil marriage in Seychelles:

– Passport copies (data page)

– Birth certificates copies (international or translated into English or French)

– Divorce certificate copy (only if one of you has been married before, translated into English or French)

A simple translation from a translation agency is sufficient, it is not necessary to have it certified/notarized.

All these documents can be scanned copies and be sent via email. (No originals required)

Where in the Seychelles can I be married?

The answer to this is; anywhere you wish!

As long as the couple, two witnesses, and the official Seychelles wedding registrar is present, you can virtually have the wedding anywhere in the Seychelles.

That even includes the Seychelles waters, so that means you can even be married on a yacht out in the ocean.

If that seems a little too fancy for your taste, no worries. Couples that need to tie the knot in a hurry often choose to have Express Weddings, these can even be easily conducted in the comfort of a hotel room.

We know that for the vast majority of couples in love, and that may very well be you. It’s the picturesque weddings on the beach under the sun that calls to them.

These unforgettable ceremonies are usually conducted on the 3 main islands, the island of Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue, and the specific beach is chosen by the couples.

Our Top 3 recommendations are:

Baie Lazar Beach, on Mahe Island.

Anse Lazio Beach, on Praslin Island.

Grand Anse Beach on La Digue Island.

We’re in the UAE, will our marriage in Seychelles be recognized there?

It absolutely will. Many experienced wedding organizers such as SeyBooking.com offer an “Attested Marriage Documents Package” this ensures that your marriage is recognized in the UAE.

For the registration of your marriage in the UAE you will receive the following:

-2x official Marriage Certificate issued and stamped by the Government of Seychelles

-2x Apostille by Seychelles’ Supreme Court

-2x Letter of Attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Additionally, couples can also have the Attestation done by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Seychelles.

COVID-19 and getting married in Seychelles?

Regarding Covid-19, masks are mandatory in Seychelles outside of your home/accommodation. Unfortunately, during the official ceremony masks must be worn by all attendees.

Currently, only 4 guests are allowed to attend a beach wedding. These rules however change often.

The above restrictions apply for a wedding on Mahe Island Only. If you would like to get married without masks and have more than 4 guests attending your wedding, we recommend having the ceremony on La Digue island. The Covid-19 restrictions are not as strict on the island of La Digue.
