Villa de Jardin is a small set of self-catering villas at Port Glaud, on the green, quiet west coast of Mahé, close to the water and the marine park. It is an intimate, family-run place of around nine villas, and it holds an excellent 4.7 stars from more than one hundred and ten reviews. Well-kept, spacious villas, a breathtaking setting close to the sea and a warm team that makes guests feel part of a family are what fill the reviews.

The villas are described as beautiful, spacious and very well kept, boutique in feel, set close to the water with breathtaking views over the coast, and there is a small but lovely infinity pool that reviews single out. It is set up for an easy, self-sufficient stay, with a shop just down the road for everything you need, and resident giant tortoises in the grounds that guests can feed, a small delight that comes up often.

The hosting lifts it. As a family business, guests write of a wonderful, attentive team who take real care of the villas and of their visitors, quick to sort out any hiccup and generous with their time. Even when a small misunderstanding arose on arrival for one guest, the room was ready and the matter settled quickly. It is that personal, family-run care, in an exceptional setting, that guests remember.

Port Glaud lies on the west coast of Mahé, one of the island's greenest and quietest corners, where the mountains drop steeply to the sea. Nearby are the Port Launay and Baie Ternay marine parks with some of the island's calmest, clearest water for swimming and snorkelling, the Sauzier waterfall in the hills, and the trails of the Morne Seychellois National Park above. The west-coast beaches here are lovely and uncrowded, and Beau Vallon and Victoria are a drive over or around the hills. For a family-run self-catering stay in a beautiful, peaceful setting at Port Glaud, Villa de Jardin is one we are glad to recommend.

I really liked this hotel. The view is really nice, it has a small but super infinity pool and it’s boutique. They also have some tortoises that you can feed. Staff is also attentive.

Getting there and the area

Port Glaud lies on the west coast of Mahé, a green, mountainous and thinly settled stretch where steep forested slopes fall to a quiet coast. It is one of the calmest parts of the island, home to the Port Launay and Baie Ternay marine parks whose sheltered bays hold some of the clearest, calmest water in Seychelles, good for swimming and snorkelling. In the hills behind are the Sauzier waterfall, the tea plantation and the trails of the Morne Seychellois National Park, the island's mountainous heart. The west-coast beaches here are pretty and uncrowded. Beau Vallon and Victoria are reachable by road over or around the mountains, and Mahé is the main island, home to the airport and most of the country's people.
