The villas are spacious, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean, air conditioned and fully equipped, with a wonderful pool and a welcome basket of fresh fruit on arrival. Set on the hillside, they wake you to birdsong and open onto sweeping views of the sea, the pool and the surrounding mountains that guests describe as paradise. There is an on-site restaurant with a chef guests rave about, private parking for a hire car, and everything you need without leaving the property.
The service is what lifts an already beautiful place. The owners and staff are described again and again as going above and beyond, warm, helpful and genuinely invested in a good stay, and guests write of feeling completely looked after. Baie Lazare is a village on the south-west coast of Mahé, one of the loveliest and most scenic parts of the island, named after the explorer Lazare Picault and set among green hills above a string of beautiful beaches. Nearby are Anse Soleil and Petite Anse, small, postcard-perfect coves reached down winding lanes, and the Mango House Hilton sits next door for a special dinner. This is a laid-back, green corner away from the crowds, with the beaches and viewpoints of the south close by, the airport around half an hour and Victoria a little beyond. Baie Lazare is a village on the south-west coast of Mahé, one of the loveliest and most scenic parts of the island, named after the French explorer Lazare Picault who landed here. It sits among steep green hills above a coast of small, beautiful beaches, with Anse Soleil and Petite Anse, two postcard-perfect coves, reached down narrow winding lanes nearby, and the long beach of Baie Lazare itself below. This is a laid-back, green and scenic stretch well away from the busier north, with a few restaurants including the Mango House Hilton, the beaches and viewpoints of the south close by, the airport around half an hour by car and Victoria a little beyond. Mahé is the main island, home to the airport and most of the country's people.
