The suites are beautiful, comfortable and well maintained, and the villa has a five-star feel with only a handful of rooms, so the atmosphere is private and calm. The panoramic view over Anse Royale and the south-east of the island, from the balconies and the breakfast terrace, is the reason guests book, breathtaking from the moment you arrive at reception. A generous breakfast is served with that same view each morning.
The service is the heart of the reviews. The manager and staff are described as genuinely lovely, welcoming and helpful, offering guests a lift down to the town and upgrading rooms without fuss. It is that personal warmth, and the unforgettable view, that guests remember, more than one calling it one of the best places they have stayed.
The villa sits high on a hill, five hundred metres or so above the main road, reached by a steep drive, so a hire car is essential, but the view is worth every metre. Below lies Anse Royale, a long beach with a shallow, reef-protected lagoon that is calm and safe for swimming, with restaurants, shops and the spice garden at Le Jardin du Roi close by. Victoria and the airport are around twenty minutes to the north. For a small hilltop villa with a spectacular view and warm service on Mahé, Ocean Terrace is one we happily recommend.

Anse Royale is one of the longest and best-loved beaches on the south-east coast of Mahé, a broad sweep of soft sand backed by the village of the same name and, behind it, steep green hills that give sweeping views over the coast. A reef offshore shelters a shallow lagoon that stays calm and clear, safe for swimming and good for gentle snorkelling, and popular with local families. The village has shops, cafés, restaurants and the University of Seychelles, and the spice garden at Le Jardin du Roi sits in the hills above. Other lovely southern beaches, and the calm bay of Anse Forbans, are a short drive away, while Victoria and the airport are around twenty minutes to the north. Mahé is the main island, and a hire car makes the most of this scenic southern coast, especially for the hillside spots above the bay.
