Au Cap sits on the quieter south-east side of Mahé, and La Vida makes a calm self-catering base there with Marthe and Alfred close at hand. The apartment is upstairs rather than on the sand, so the beach is a short walk rather than a step from the door, but the sea-view terrace and the constant birdsong more than settle that. Marthe and Alfred can sort a rental car and share where to go, which makes exploring the island straightforward from a home that leans into art on the walls and quiet over anything showy.
