The rooms are spacious and spotless, many with a breathtaking view over the bay, and the hotel is decorated in soft pastels that give it a calm, understated feel. There is a saltwater pool kept clean without heavy chlorine, and the beach is right below with direct access. Guests describe a place that feels gentle and personal, well suited to couples and honeymooners as much as to families.
The service is what fills the reviews, a local team described as super friendly and genuinely caring, quick to listen and to arrange the little things, a candlelight dinner for a honeymoon among them. It is the warmth and the attention to detail, more than any single facility, that people remember.
Anse Gouvernement is on the north coast of Praslin, next to Côte d'Or, the island's main resort beach, a long sheltered bay where many of the boat trips and activities begin. Shops, dive centres and restaurants are close by, and Anse Lazio and the Vallée de Mai are a short drive away. For a gentle, beautifully kept beachfront hotel with direct beach access and warm service on Praslin, L'Archipel is one we are glad to recommend.

The Area
Anse Gouvernement lies on the north coast of Praslin, at the eastern end of Côte d'Or, the island's main resort beach, a long, gently curving bay of pale sand with calm, shallow water that is safe for swimming. The Côte d'Or strip, with its shops, dive centres and casual restaurants, is a short walk or drive away, and many of Praslin's boat trips, to Curieuse, Saint Pierre and La Digue, set off from the bay. Anse Lazio, regularly named one of the best beaches in the world, is a short drive north, and the Vallée de Mai palm forest lies inland. Praslin is reached by a quick flight or the fast ferry from Mahé, and a hire car or the island bus makes getting around easy.
