Glacis is a quiet, rocky stretch of the north coast of Mahé, just beyond Beau Vallon at the northern tip of the island, about twenty-five minutes by car from Victoria and the airport. It is a green and residential area of hillside homes and small coves, with clear water and good snorkelling straight off the rocks. The long beach at Beau Vallon, with its dive centres, restaurants and Wednesday food market, is a few minutes away, and boat trips to the Sainte Anne marine park leave from there. Mahé is the main island, with the widest choice of beaches and restaurants, and a hire car is the easy way to reach them along the north-coast road.
