Being small is part of the charm here, guests describe it as cosy and peaceful, the kind of place built for rest, good food and long walks on the beach. Takamaka and Anse Forbans lie along the south coast of Mahé, a quiet, green and largely residential part of the island about twenty-five minutes by car from the airport and forty from Victoria. This is one of the calmer corners of Mahé, with long stretches of beach, a scattering of local restaurants and takeaways, and the Takamaka rum distillery nearby. Some of the island's most dramatic beaches, Anse Intendance and Grand Anse, are a short drive away, beautiful for walking though the surf can be strong. Mahé is the main island, and a hire car is the easy way to reach the beaches, the capital and the rest of the coast.
