Nouvelle Vallee is the inland valley that rises just above Beau Vallon on the north coast of Mahé, so D & M sits slightly set back and up rather than on the sand like the beachfront guesthouses nearer the bay. Beau Vallon beach, with its shops and hiking routes, is close enough to reach on foot, and guests use that easy access as the reason the valley position works. The clear draw here is the pair who run it, Doris and Mick, whose stocked-fridge welcomes and late-evening clinic run come up in review after review. The shared pool looking north over the island is the other distinguishing note, and the slight inland climb is worth knowing before booking if you want to step straight onto the beach.
