The rooms are lovely and comfortable, several with a fine view over the ocean, and the hotel sits right at the water's edge with a pool and sun terrace above the sea. Guests borrow the hotel's kayak, snorkel over the corals just offshore and spot reef sharks, rays and fruit bats around the bay. The common areas are well kept, and there is a supermarket and an ATM just across the road, which is handy on this quieter coast.
The service and the value are the heart of the reviews. Guests describe attentive, genuinely friendly staff, a delicious dinner served overlooking the ocean and rooms at a fair price for the setting. It is the personal, boutique feel, right on the water, that brings guests back and has more than one calling it the highlight of their trip.
Pointe au Sel is on the south-east coast of Mahé, a quiet, scenic stretch near Anse Royale, away from the busier north of the island. The coast here is good for snorkelling, with corals close to shore, and Anse Royale's beach and the craft and spice gardens of the south are close by. This is a beautiful boutique hotel located directly on the water. The sea view is spectacular and the water is perfect for exploring the corals. Pointe au Sel is a quiet, scenic point on the south-east coast of Mahé, just north of Anse Royale, away from the busier resort areas of the north. The coast here has corals close to shore, so the snorkelling straight off the rocks is good, and reef fish, rays and small sharks are often about. Anse Royale, with its long beach and shallow lagoon, is a few minutes away, along with the spice garden at Le Jardin du Roi and the craft studios of the south. Victoria and the airport are around twenty-five minutes to the north. Mahé is the main island, with the widest choice of beaches and restaurants, and a hire car makes the most of this quieter southern coast.
