It is one of the island's most convenient areas to stay, lined with guesthouses, self-catering places and small restaurants, and it sits on the road that leads to L'Union Estate, the old plantation, and on to Anse Source d'Argent, the celebrated beach of pink-granite boulders and shallow turquoise water. La Digue is a slow, largely car-free island where almost everyone travels by bicycle, and from Anse Réunion the harbour, the shops and the beaches are a short, flat ride away. The ferry links La Digue to Praslin in minutes and on to Mahé, the main island with the airport.
