Anse La Mouche is a wide, sheltered bay on the south-west coast of Mahé, about twenty minutes by car from the airport and half an hour from Victoria. The water here is calm and shallow, one of the better spots on the island for an easy swim, and the bay is quiet and green with a scattering of small restaurants and the craft village nearby. Some of the finest beaches in the country, Anse Soleil, Petite Anse and Anse Intendance, are a short drive south, and the artist studios of the south-west are worth an afternoon. Mahé is the main island, with the widest choice of beaches and restaurants, and a hire car is the easy way to reach them.
