✓ Verified listing · Official Seychelles Tourism registerBambous River Lodge is a set of self-catering apartments set in a luscious garden at Mount Simpson, on the hillside above Bel Ombre on the north-west of Mahé, and it holds a superb 4.8 from around sixty guests. Reviewers describe a rare gem, one guest only half-joking that they selfishly did not want to share it in case they came back. It is meticulously maintained, with a lovely swimming pool, a charming ocean view and a deep sense of calm.
The apartments and garden are the heart of it. Guests describe very spacious units, kept light and airy and pristine, set in a beautifully maintained garden with the pool at its centre. One family stayed eleven nights and loved it, while another called the two-bedroom villa impeccable, clean, quiet and safe. A welcome drink on arrival and stunning views set the tone, and the whole property has the feel of somewhere genuinely cared for.
The setting balances seclusion with access. Bambous River Lodge is nestled away from the main roads for real peace and quiet, yet everything you could want is a short walk away. Guests point out shops around five minutes off, a secluded beach only five minutes away, and watersports, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet-ski and a casino all about fifteen minutes on foot, so you get a hidden-away base without being cut off from island life.
Two honest notes help with planning. Guests are clear that a car is a must here, as the property is uphill and it is a walk to reach food and shops, and the lodge is not new, with some older fittings, one reviewer noting that the locks were rusty and stiff to operate. Set those practical points against the meticulous garden, the pool, the generous space and the warm, attentive staff and management, and the 4.8 rating reflects a rare, well-loved hillside gem on this quiet stretch of coast.

We stayed at the Bambous River Lodge for 11 nights; a meticulously maintained place with a luscious garden and a lovely swimming pool. The staff and the management were very warm, welcoming and attentive. We highly recommend the place for anyone looking for a self-catering apartment. We would love to stay there again

Amazing chill - quiet and the stunning view. Its MUST to have a car once you think about this place. Its uphill and quite some walking to any food or shop. Place is not new and all locks were rousty and hard to operate. Its very spacious - VERY - and kept in light tones. There is a charming view on ocen and welcome

Absolutely fantastic place to stay! Nestled away from the main roads, but only a short walk away from everything you could want. Shops just 5 minutes, secluded beach (Marie Laurie) just 5 minutes, water sports, scuba diving snorkeling, jet ski, casino, just 15 minutes walk away. The apartments themselves are in pristin

Every so often you find these rare gems that you selfishly don't want to share just in case one day you want to go back and there will be no availability. This is one of them. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa, sadly only for 2 nights, and everything was impeccable. Clean, quiet, safe, beautiful location, well kept gard

Mount Simpson is a hillside neighbourhood rising behind Bel Ombre on the north-west coast of Mahé, high enough for sweeping views over the sea and a cooling breeze, yet only a short descent from the shore. This is a quiet, green and largely residential corner just around from the busy sweep of Beau Vallon, the island's main beach, which is close enough for its restaurants, dive centres, watersports and shops while leaving you well away from the crowds. Secluded local coves lie within a short walk, the coast road links quickly to Beau Vallon and on to the capital, Victoria, about fifteen minutes away, and the steep, green hills make a hire car the natural choice for enjoying this elevated, tucked-away part of the island.
