The rooms are contemporary and comfortable, including swim-up rooms that open onto the pool, and the resort is built around its pools, its beach and a spread of restaurants and bars. The breakfast buffet and the variety across the restaurants draw a lot of praise, as does the pool bar. It is the kind of resort where you can settle in and not need to leave, which suits a relaxed week in the sun.
Service is a strong theme, an attentive, friendly team across the restaurants and the front desk who go out of their way to help, and guests often name the people who looked after them. Between the food, the pools and the staff, the reviews read as consistently happy.
Barbarons is on the west coast of Mahé, a calmer, greener side of the island about thirty minutes from the airport and Victoria. The long beach at Grande Anse and the surf beaches of the west coast are close by, and the water here is clear and open. For a modern, family-friendly resort with good food and strong service on a quiet stretch of coast, it is one we are glad to recommend.

Barbarons is on the west coast of Mahé, one of the quieter and greener sides of the main island, about thirty minutes by car from the airport and Victoria. The coast here is more open and less developed than the north, with the long sweep of Grande Anse and a run of west-coast beaches close by, beautiful to look at and better for walking and surf than for calm swimming, since this side can pick up a swell. There are a few shops and local restaurants nearby, and the craft village and the tea factory of the west are a short drive. Mahé is the main island, and a hire car is the easy way to reach the beaches and the capital.
