The apartments face straight out over the water, and it is the view guests return to more than anything else, the wide private terraces with the Indian Ocean filling the horizon, described by visitors as some of the best ocean views of their whole trip. It is a self-catering property of six rooms and twelve beds, run by its owner Solana Boniface, and one of the highest-rated stays anywhere on the island, a full five stars from more than three hundred Google reviews.
These are proper apartments rather than hotel rooms, spacious and including two-bedroom units, each with a full kitchen that guests say has everything you need and then some. Review after review comes back to the same words, exceptionally clean, spotless, beautifully maintained. With space for families or a group and the freedom to cook for yourself, it suits a longer, settle-in kind of stay as much as a first trip to the islands.
What lifts it above a good apartment is the hosting. Solana, her daughter and their team meet you at check-in, keep everything running smoothly, and are quick with advice on the right beaches, the best local tables and how to get around. Anse Royale puts you on one of the island's longest beaches, a calm, shallow bay on the gentler side of Mahé, with a supermarket and casual restaurants close by and the wild south-coast beaches at Anse Intendance and Takamaka a short drive on. Victoria and the airport are both easy runs, and a hire car makes the most of the location. For a self-catering base that is high on view, high on comfort and genuinely well hosted, this is one we would happily point a guest to.

We had a fantastic stay in Mahé and truly enjoyed our time at this property. The place was comfortable, well-maintained, and offered a beautiful ocean view that made our stay even more special. Anse Royale sits on the south-east coast of Mahé, roughly 25 minutes by car from the airport and 40 from Victoria. The village runs along one of the island's longest beaches, a shallow, mostly calm bay that is easy for swimming, with a small islet you can wade out to at low tide. There is a supermarket, a few local takeaways and casual restaurants, and the University of Seychelles campus close by. The wilder south-coast beaches at Anse Intendance, Anse Takamaka and Petite Anse are a short drive on. Mahé is the main island, with the widest choice of shops, beaches and places to eat, and a hire car is the easy way to reach them.
