Grand Anse is a long, gently curving bay on the south coast of Praslin, close to the Baie Sainte Anne jetty where the inter-island ferries dock and the main hub on this side of the island for shops, banks and buses. Away from the beachfront, the residential village here is calm and green, well stocked with grocery shops, ATMs, restaurants and takeaways, which makes it an easy, self-sufficient base for a self-catering stay. The broad beach is shallow, with seagrass and the tide meaning the swimming varies through the day, while the steady breeze suits kitesurfers, and the celebrated beaches of the north-west, Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette, along with the Vallée de Mai palm forest, are all a short drive away.
