The Suzuki Celerio is the most affordable way to get around the islands, and for two or three people it is all the car you need. It is a fully automatic five-door city hatchback that sips fuel at 4.5 to 5.5 litres per 100km, the lowest of the whole fleet, so a week of exploring costs very little to run. Light, compact and easy to park at any beach, it slips through Victoria’s streets and the narrow coastal lanes with no fuss.
It suits couples, solo travellers and small families who want something cheap, simple and reliable rather than large. Every car is automatic, so no clutch on the hills, air-conditioned against the heat, and cleaned and checked before it reaches you. If you need more space or seats, step up to the Suzuki Swift or the Brezza SUV.
