The magnificent island threesome comprising Alphonse, St. Francois and Bijoutier lies in the very heart of the Indian Ocean as part of the Seychelles outer island group. The Resort

Alphonse Island features a single lodge comprising of Beach Bungalows, Beach Suites and Beach Villas built alongside the water’s edge, each with scenic ocean views. Freedom of movement around the island on foot or bicycle permits self-discovery of the wonders of this special place.

The main hotel complex consists of a reception area, lounge, beach bar, restaurant, spa, swimming pool, tennis court and main office. Guests stay in one of 22 Beach Bungalows, five one-bedroom Beach Suites or two four-bedroomed Beach Villas, all air conditioned and optimally spaced for privacy and offering every comfort imaginable. 5.0 "small paradice"

It is an exceptional island to explore not only for fishermans. During our 4 day stay we have been not bored, although we are not fishermans. We were allocated at last 2 cabins, which was amazing, since snorkel is located on that site and we spend much time doing that activity by ourselves. We noticed that snorkel is fabulous on this island with huge amount and variety of fish, not to mention that bike ride inside the island and walks on the flats is absolutely must! Also island tortoises are very communicative!

5.0 "Unforgettable experiences in paradise"

Everything was perfect - it was a dream destination!! I cant wait to go back. I stayed for a week and tried to do all the activities (snorkeling, beach clean up, sailfish snorkeling, manta snorkeling, scuba diving, fly fishing, island tour) but there is just so much to do - I will have to come back. The activities team should be rated 6 stars. Friendly, accommodating and passionate about nature. I learned a lot and had a ton of fun. My highlight would be the scuba diving - its an unwater wonder world. I have never done fly fishing but I caught a few nice size bonefish and some other reef fish. It hard to comprehend how many fish there is and how exciting it is when a school of 100 bonefish swim in front of you. The creole inspired food it something else, I loved the fresh and healthy foods. I tried lots of new dishes and was pleasantly surprised every time. The staff was a lot of fun and able to accommodate any requests we had.

5.0 "A reluctant review..."

This is the first time I have been reluctant about writing a review, for the simple reason that I kind of want to keep this place a secret. My husband went last year, he's a keen fisherman so I wasn't really too interested but he convinced me to go, letting me know of all the other activities despite the island being so small, but more than anything he raved about the staff. What can I say, where do I start. I noticed when we arrived on the island how many people responded to the team like old friends, we were driven to reception and greeted by some of the main members of staff. I'm pretty bad at remembering names, but you will be surprised by the end of the holiday because you really will feel like you are leaving friends behind. As I didn't fish, I spent quite a lot of time with the activities team; how they get so many expert, friendly, passionate people in such as small space is a mystery to me. I did most things apart from dive; cycle tour, fish talk, beach clean and lots of kayaking and snorkling. You can see a great number of fish even just off the house reef, but when you get out on a boat, it's another world. I had the pleasure of swimming with sharks, bat fish, lots of different parrot fish, 'chocolate dips', rays (see Byron, I did listen on the fish talk). I have to admit, I spent zero time round the pool and only about a total of an hour on the sun lougers by the bar because there was so much to see! And then there is the evenings, the food at the buffet is fantastic, especially the traditional nights. The bar team, bless them, stayed up with us till the early mornings, always with a smile on their faces and greeted us the next day with the enthusiasm that showed nothing of their late nights! In their brochure there was a phrase 'barefoot luxury' and this is perfect. We had limited amount of baggage weight coming in so we really had to choose what we wanted to pack and keep to a minimum. It was lovely to get dressed up a little in the evenings but not necessary, I was glad to see people make a little effort but still leave their sandles on the steps on the way to the bar. I love experiencing new places, and don't often book back into somewhere without a bit of a gap, but we have committed to coming again next year and I couldn't be happier. Not only can I not wait to see this incredibly beautiful place again, and explore some of the local islands more, but I also can't wait to see the people who I left there, who feel like friends.

I went to fish but was most impressed by the facilities, service and staff. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny for the experience. I was most impressed by the care and conservation for the environment that supports the resort. If you do not care for the environment before you go, you will after.

5.0 "Trip of a Lifetime"

Being an accomplished angler in the Midwest, saltwater fly fishing is relatively new to me, yet I made the decision to go all in and make the journey to the mystical Alphonse Island... a place I had only read, and dreamed about. Upon arrival, anglers and non-anglers alike are immediately treated like long time friends. The welcoming nature of every single staff member makes the jet lag instantly fade. From the check-in process, the fishing orientation to your first happy hour and meal, it is a seamless transition to island life. Fishing. All that can be said here is it was EPIC. The diversity of the species on can catch on the fly is one of the most alluring aspects of Alphonse Island. From bonefish, geets and triggerfish... to a blue water adventure for sailfish and wahoo... it's all no more than a walk down a few steps of your villa to no more than a 45 minute boat ride. Fishing exceeded any, and all, expectations I had. The guides were all so amazingly knowledgeable and fun to be with in the skiff... you didn't want the day to end. For those anglers traveling as a couple or a family, there are ample opportunities for the non-fishing partner or kids to make the most of their time on the island... snorkeling, diving, beach clean ups, paddle boarding... and a top notch spa (I myself did indulge in wonderful massage from Lucy on my final morning... after a week of fishing, it made the long journey back way more comfortable). Alphonse Island truly is a place with something to offer everyone. Accommodations were outstanding. The rooms were great... nothing quite like an outdoor shower and a Seybrew after a day of fishing the flats! Le Lys Bar is the perfect place to wind down the day with a gin and tonic, and tell stories of the days successes and failures... and a place where true friendships are formed. The attentiveness and service of the entire food and beverage staff is truly next level. Bijoutier Restaurant serves up nothing but tasty Seychellois Creole and French cuisine... expectations were exceeded here as well. Only thing I can say, is that if you get the chance to visit Alphonse Island... take it, you will not be disappointed! For me, a trip of a lifetime has become an annual trip of a lifetime!

5.0 "Trip of a lifetime!"

This review has been a while coming. As a lone fisherman I was a bit apprehensive as what to expect, but the minute I stepped off the plane I was made to feel welcome and more than comfortable. Gordon (with his infectious enthusiasm and humor) and his team were seamless on the hospitality side, nothing was too much trouble, in fact everything was done before you could even think it. On the fishing side, wow, what a destination, Alex (the head guide) and his team were knowledgeable, professional and great fun to fish with, they seem to have as much fun as the guys fishing, thank you. I can't recommend the Alphonse experience enough, I said it was a once in a life time trip, but I will be going back, as often as possible.

5.0 "Awesome destination"

From our arrival greeting with Gordon to our departure, we were treated wonderfully. I was impressed that the staff always addressed us by our first name, made everything that more personal. Bar scene was friendly and meals were great WiFi available at the bar There were plenty of activities for my wife while I was out fishing Island has a garden where much of their produce is grown; that and fresh fish, what more can you ask for.

Unbelievable holiday. Gordon and his staff went over and above to accommodate us and ensure we had the best holiday. The fishing guides were all excellent and knowledgeable. So much to do, food great, accommodation excellent. I can't recommend Alphonse highly enough.

5.0 "Everything I expected and more"

Fishing was the main goal. Highly professional guides and outfitting from skiffs to mothership. Absolutely loved every minute, even when whether turned a little bad. Had a fishing experience I will never forget. Resort, food, etc was the cherry on the top. From very friendly staff, to just superb "relaxed" environment without getting too much in your face or trying too hard. All I can say is that this was 5 star all round without being too "pretentious" i.e. trying too hard. Outstanding trip and highly recommended. Worth every cent.

5.0 "A true Paradise!! Loved it!!"

We loved our stay on Alphonse Island. It's really a paradise. It's more beautiful than the pictures convey. The water is so beautiful and the sea life is so colorful. The staff was so nice and the food just excellent!! We do not have any complaints. We were invited to stay on the island by the children's grandma Chantal who goes there often to fly fish. Now after staying there we can see why she goes so often. She has brought the whole family to see this wonderful place. It's so nice that while she goes and fly fish we can enjoy the island activities. Every day there are activities to do and the staff really accommodates you if you can't make it. They really make an effort to schedule another time for you if there is a boat available. The island tours, the snorkeling, the dolphins, and swimming with the Manta's. Its just all so magical. We also went on half day fly fishing excursions with grandma. It was fun to see what she loves to do and to understand the sport. It was really a very nice vacation. Chantal wanted me to rewrite her quote in good english but I think leaving it as she said means more. 5.0 "Surreal experience on beautiful Alphonse island with great professional staff!"

Since the first step on Alphonse island I felt warmly welcome. The management team was greeting us when stepping from the plane. We were taken to the main building and given briefing while drinking coconut juice from a coconut. Everyone got a bike and it was so lovely to cycle around the island in a nice warm breeze. In the mornings and afternoons the tortoises were along the roads eating grass and happy to see us. The scuba diving team with the lead of Juho (Dive & Activity Centre Manager) was excellent. Everything was organised tip top and we were taken excellent care of. I finalised my Nitrox e-course with Juho. He was very accurate in his job and made sure I understand and know everything. I felt very safe with him (I have been diving only for two years). Went for beautiful dives, only 15 min boat drive away from the island. The diving and fishing teams work really hard to make your holiday easy and fun. Elle (Ecology and Sustainability Manager) gave interesting and professional presentations of mantas and corals in the evenings. Learned a lot. Do go to listen to the presentations. We had relaxing sundowners at the beach bar and were on surreal flat lunch in the middle of the ocean! You have to experience it to believe and understand what it was like! Room was beautiful, nice little surprises every evening when going to bed. Scott the Manager was very caring of all the guests. The atmosphere among the team and guests was very personal and top class. This place is a gem! Every time I went to the beach I was ALONE or saw someone snorkeling far away! Where can you experience that luxury? You can snorkel from your own beach, lots of turtles and even spent a long time with a curious big permit there. Easy holiday and unforgettable moments every day. Food was excellent. The staff was so happy, friendly and helpful, being there alone, never felt lonesome. Amazing week with A-team! Felt blessed and very thankful to have been able to spend a week on a beautiful remote Alphonse island. Thank you ALL!
